So, it’s the weekend again, right?

Pretty amazing how quickly the days are going by. Fourth quarter and we’re already past the interim mark. There are about two weeks of actual school left and then blissful summer. I can’t wait.

Last week SOLs finished, but then who really worries about SOLs? I got my scores back. Perfect on the World history and pass advanced on Chemistry. I just wish we’d get AP scores back.  APs were the real bother and they’ve already been finished for a while now.

It keeps raining. All this humidity is getting on my nerves. >__<””

I understand the flowers need rain, but we’re halfway through June! Can’t we have more than one nice day a week? That is if you can call the warmer days nice. Usually, it’s so humid that the warmth feels muggy and disgusting. Bleh.

So I got Green day’s 21st century breakdown yesterday. It’s not like American Idiot. The style is a lot softer. Lots of ‘waaaooohhs’. The lyrics are decent, but not relevant in that American Idiot was. That is to say, it’s a lot of pretend teenage rebellion belied by excessive sound treatment. Not to mention ‘chorus’ lines that come up one too many times. The songs sound ‘heavy’, but there’s not much harmony or synchronization. Definitely not Shiina Ringo or Jamie Cullum. I don’t know why I was expecting so much from this album. No wait, I remember! New York Times and Washington Post gave it good reviews. Last time I trust a newspaper movie review.

On the first listen, I was totally repulsed and disappointed. But as I listen to it more and louder, it’s becoming better.

Oh, and I saw Star Trek last weekend. See, I’m an otaku. I love the original series. And I expected for the Star Trek movie to be along the lines of the series. You know, deep scientific and moral queries paired with awesome sets and a edgy social issues. Not to mention a decent cast.

The movie was not like that. It was a good movie. If you hadn’t seen the series and weren’t expecting any sort of respectable science. It was hokey, in short. Lots of quippy one liners from caricatures of the actual characters. Not to mention the final Spock character death. ;___;

Also saw Terminator. Warning, If you go to see this one without seeing the others you will most likely be very confused. Also, if you were expecting lots of shot of Christian Bale, be prepared to be disappointed. They follow around another, significantly less awesome, character. -___-“

UP! Was good. I went into a theatre with a lot of little kids who were totally confused by it. Kinda reminds me of when I went to see Bolt (during the climatic scene: mommy, why are there two doggies?). Nevertheless, it was good aside from that. Although it’s just a little bit too sad and introspective for a younger crowd, I really liked it. :D

I’m skipping the rant because I am, as usual, sick and trying to desperately make up work. -___-“

i am on a laptop, but not just any laptop, my laptop!

XD
i am dying of happiness.

plus i have found a good online radio station. oh the power of google!
http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/ASIAN%2BKUNG-FU%2BGENERATION/similarartists

and i have finished my homework. :3
i hate j-lab.

see, in virginia we have SOLs, standards of learning. i can understand why we have SOLs, i just can't understand why they're so easy. or how something so easy can end up being so irritating...
towards the end of the year, teachers begin to think about the SOLs and how irritating they are. then, the teachers pass their irritation on to the students by reviewing everything we learned during the year because they think that we have forgotten. don't these teachers know anything? kids forget things over the summer, not during the year!

and what's worse is that they find old SOL tests and make us take them. -___-"
think of the SAT but poorly worded and even easier. that  is the SOL.
but maybe i'm too harsh. some kids have to be failing it since they keep giving it to us. but they shouldn't make those of us that don't fail suffer for those that do.
D:
plus, it makes me do work. and i read too much into the questions and come up with strange complicated answers...
>__>"

-silence-
well, that's that and i've had my rant.

but on a happier note, i went to alil' thingamajigs store.
desite the name, it's a cute little Korean stationary store. The stuff is overpriced, sure, but it's also so cute that you (I) don't notice. :3
I went to the one in Annandale. It's close to TJ, right by that library over there. So go peoples that I know.
>D
plus, there's a adorable Ceci's store right nearby. I didn't have enough time to go in and explore (plus, the stuff there looked hand made and therefore expensive) but it was cute stuff.
:3
so that's my good news!

perhaps you thought i was dead.
i was not, but you were nearly right.

i was sick with a very bad fever for a week. The week following that I had some stomach bug.

Then i went back to school. It's taken me a long time to get all caught up. Normally, I post and stuff during my compsci class. (yes, i have the skillage to do that and still turn in my programs early, thank you very much.) Since i have actually had to do stuff, i haven't been able to get online.

add to that my typical slacker-ness and i haven't posted in nearly forever...

weekend

so my weekend has been pretty interesting.

i got invited to a halloween party, but i couldn't go because my mom was being all ocd about scary highschool party. if she honestly thinks that a bunch of asian kids from tj are going to be having a crazy party she clearly has mental problems, right? > _ < so that kinda made me mad, but i got cheered up when i went shopping.

yes, i know, you people who know me must be shocked. kresh... happy... about... shopping?!?!? how could this be? and has 2012 come sooner than we thought?!!?!?!?!
worry not, it was anime/manga shopping with some FYE & hot topic window shopping thrown in. see, real last minute and sneaky like i decided that i was going to dress up punk goth for halloween.
NOTE: my idea of punk goth is cute and tempered with with an unhealthy love of anime and gothic lolita. so, just to let you know...

i did alright for the costume. i had a skelanimals theme.
for people who do not know what skelanimals are
look here or here or even there

so it was basically skelanimals hair clips and sweat shirt, with a plaid skirt and thigh hi black and white socks. ^__^

and after that, i watched the first Death Note movie and disc 7 of the anime.
much crying when L died. i really liked the way the anime dealt with L's death tho' and i should probably spam about that later. >__>

so then on Saturday, i went to this volunteering thing because that's what i do in my spare time. it was the USO operation care package. basically, they set up assembly lines packing care packages that will be sent overseas to US troops. it's very volunteer based, so they need as much help as they can get so i was glad that i did it. it's pretty fun as far as volunteering too. once you start going at your station, you get really into it. plus, sometimes the people will start competing on who can finish the most packages.
to find out more about the USO volunteering click over here!

so yesterday you would think i would take a break, right? well so did i. but not my mom! no, she turns on the TV and sees an big thing about obama's last rally. and all of a sudden she decides: LET'S GO TO THE RALLY!!!!!
but it's not enough to just go to the rally. nooooo. we have to go with my aunt and we have to have a picnic and we have to take pictures and ... >_< you get my point. it turns into this really big deal, so i'm totally incapacitated from doing my homework for the day.
we eventually get to the rally at about 1:30 pm and there's a giant line for getting in. my aunt knows someone, so we  >__> *ahem* cut in line *ahem* <__< join our group. yeah. >__>
being all into it, we've got the picnic and books to read and chairs to sit in and nearly a whole house for waiting. the moment that we pull everything out of the car and have it situated so that we can carry our bucketload of stuff, a volunteer comes over and tells us "No bags, dears".
0___0 besides the fact that she called us dears, did she just say no bags!?!?!
so we ask her, "did you just say no bags?"
and she replies, "oh yes, dears. and no food either"
and we're all D: NO FOOOOOOOOOOOD!?!?!?!??!!
and she's just :D
>__<" i would never volunteer for a rally, let me just say that.

we stand there until 5 pm without any bags or FOOD when they FINALLY open the gate. and then we all pour in. the security wasn't actually that bad, but they did scramble the phone signal in the rally area. so we jockey for positions in the field. now, i've gone to some pretty crowded stuff , but never have i seen so many people in one place. and so just excited. it was really moving.
and it was physically moving too. people kept pushing and shoving and trying to get closer to the stage so that they could see something. ANYTHING. now, that goes with the teritory. i mean, i didn't expect tea and jam or anything like that, but it was pretty rough. and when some really STUPID people thought it was a good idea to sit down, it got nearly crazy.
i am so angry about the sitting people that i'm either not going to talk about it at all or i'm just going to do a really big post about how utterly idiotic people can be sometimes.

the band they had wasn't that great and obama came in really late.
but it was worth it.
because once obama started talking, it was just so... i don't know... inspirational and meaningful and profound to the point of cliche. part of it is that my mum's black and i'm biracial, but it really felt like history was being made.
oh, and i have photos, which i will post.
i'm promising a lot of posts, aren't i?

today, i volunteered at a election place with my girl scouts troup. we were selling baked goods and giving out free coffee to the voters. it was raining and no one was there so we closed up shop early. plus, this weird old republican guy kept coming over to tell 'funny' stories >___> "
:freaked out:

so now i have to write up my debate thing, do my chem homework, finish my precalc, get my assignment notebook back from a friend, and get ready for school. @__@
but i have the power of shiina ringo! >3

but yeah, that's been my weekend! :D

on DA i have over a 1,000 pageviews. So thank you very much for that!

and at long last i've put up my tutorial on DA as a 'thank you for the views' pic.

to see it on DA go over here

having gotten back into doing a tutorial, i want to do another one. making tutorials is just so fun.
the only problem is that i'm not skilled enough to be able to teach people to do too many things. TT___TT
but i will pass on what meager knowlege i do have...

oh, and yesterday was a Debate waffle thingie. I'm in Lincoln douglas debate so i debated the topic, "Resolved: It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more innocent people. "
you had to be at the school really early. I was so tired -___-
and it was really long. the thing didn't end untill 6:30 pm. at the end i was even more tired.
but during the waffle tournament, there are four rounds with a lunch in the middle. In each round, there are two flights. During the flight, you're paired up against an opponent and your side (affirm or negate) is assigned. This is when the actual debating occurs.
Thankfully, you only participate in one flight per round. Otherwise i would have died.
I argued affrim twice and neg twice, so it was pretty even. I liked my neg argument more tho'.
i had a flight twice and b flight twice, so it was really really even for me.
two of my opponents weren't prepared at all. two were. the first prepared opponent was this really nice girl. her case was good, but she didn't really argue it or back up the logic in the cross examine or on my attacks. i felt kinda bad debating her because she was really nice and she was older than me >__< I'm sorry, person!!
but at the same time i was really proud of my questioning, because i got her to conflict herself. :D
my second prepared opponent i had right after lunch, b flight. i don't know why, but the flight before us took a disgustingly long time. i think having lunch and then waiting longer than normal made me nervous. I don't know, but i screwed up and forgot to attack him during my first time segment. @___@ i was like HEADxDESK. I came back and attacked him really hard the next time. >__< i was really disapointed with myself because not only had i been doing really well before, but i was debating as the negate, which was the side i liked more.

oh and i looked for hal, but she wasn't there TT____TT
i know why now, but come next time Hal!! ^__^

at the end of the day, i was totally exhausted. i thought that i had a 3-1 at best and a 2-2 at worst.
so i was totally floored when they did the awards and my name was called. I got a award, so i have to move out of novice and into Junior Varsity. I'm so scared. I don't want to move up >___<" the JV people are going to slaughter me!! i don't wanna die!!!
and i looked at my speaker points, and i got below a 25 on all of them and someone said that a having 25+ means that you're ready to move on. BUT I DIDN'T GET THAT FROM ANY OF THE JUDGES!!!

so here's how i did

school's started so i have a whole big thick spiral of doodles. all of which i want to post because they're pretty. i've even got a really pretty gothic one for FMA. i've been so bored that i've been working on alchemy designs, but since i don't have the symbols (zodiac & elements & etc.) memorized, they end up looking funny. ;____;

um...
things are really slow at school, or at least that's how it feels.
world history is a pain with the freshmen. -___- i mean no offense or anything, but some of them are really irritating... i understand that just last year i was probably a lot like them but more dweby, but still, don't they have something better to do than be irksome.  it doesn't help that the teacher is like... i don't even know how to descibe her. she's ... um... pointy? she's so focused on preparing us for Wrld2, that she's kind of skimping on Wrld1. Or at least it feels that way. and a lot of our learning is done from these weird worksheets - we read something and we do a simple activity with it followed by a ppt and BAM! you just finished section one. and her ppts aren't dr.wood ppts of awesomeness. she has long sentences on her ppts and she just reads them off, or just stands quietly while the kids copy off the slide. She hasn't lectured or anything. so boring.
and it's dark so i can't sketch or anything. ;___;

and i'm kind of disappointed by my english teacher. she seemed like she would be challenging but cool and that we'd move through stuff really fast. but we aren't. it feels like we've done nothing. and we haven't. @___@ and would you turn on the lights in your room? PLEASE!!! i don't want to fall asleep in your class but it's so dark.

chem is still chem. we get so many worksheets that i think that the teacher has an unending supply of paper to throw at us at the slightest whim. man, it sucks becasue that's where most of my home work time goes- WORKSHEETS!!

um... math is fun. i like my teacher. she's cool and has lots of neat activities and demonstrations. she really tries to make things hands-on so it's fun. ^__^ the only thing is my desk partner. he's an upperclassman so i'm ignored while he talks to the people in front of and behind me. >___> one of whom lives in my neighborhood/development. so that's kind of like
....
awkward
...

yep. p.e. is p.e. is p.e.
i think that just about covers things...

oh, tutorial for hair style.

good luck with your hairstyle, Hal! <3

my chem teacher is absolutely boring. like dead boring. -___- most of the class fell asleep during her powerpoint. i fear for when we do experiments.
um...
not much else. i'm slowly getting used to the shift and i have someone to eat lunch with every day now (i think) which is better than the first week.
i cry because hal is so busy she can't hang out with me. i miss you, hal!! T^T

oh, can't wait untill emma comes out on dvd! check it out!

i'm working on and have almost finished a sewing project. i should probably post it and the jewelry on DA soon >__>;; lazzzyyyy....
oh well. -shrug-
it's a blue sweatshirt (no hoodie ;__;). you know the sort of thing that you get at a craft store and is waaay too big for about three years. at least it's comfy/cuddly. plus, i like oversized clothing, the sleeves go all 'fwosh' and cover your hands. ^___^ they're like mini-mittens.

i've embroidered and sewed on two patches so far. The one on the front is a woman, sort of like cossette from le portrait de petite cosset. There's one on the shoulder too. That one's a 'i'm lazy so i'm using felt LOL'  patch. it's also my chococat patch :3 it's cute. And there's supposed to be a third patch with Ed from FMA... but ed has so many colors in his hair >0< why ed? why? it's so hard trying to embroider him and fill in all the little places and make him look real. i've given up on trying to satin stitch his skin... >__>;;

but it's almost done :D
-happy dance-

on the back i want to put a tag sort of thing that says 'customine' but in all caps so that the 'n' looks like a 'z' on it's side. this idea of customine/customize has been floating in my head for about a year, ever since i saw the magazine 'imagine' @__@ it's finally coming to fuition. i want to wear the sweatshirt on the second day of school or something. i promised my g-ma on my da's side that i'd wear this necklace she sent me for my birthday and the sweatshirt <matches> it. not just matches, but <matches>. -___- seriously...

so i have to have it done before the first day of school. it's taken me so long to get so far... ;__;

in the mean time i'm working on my summer work which i put off. at least i can still use 'the kite runner'.  >D

there's the lunch box all closed up.

close up so you can enjoy the cuteness. ^__^

And here's the secret compartment! it slides open! ^.^ there's a little spoon and fork with 'chococat' on it!!! SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!

and here it is open. ^__^
